June 25, 2013
London, United KingdomLive Auction
Description: A fine Mariano Fortuny black silk Delphos, circa 1920-30, printed in scarlet along the selvedge seam 'Made in Italy, Fabrique en Italie, Fortuny Depose', the long sleeves and neckline edged in striped Murano glass beads; the matching satin belt stencilled with silver leaves, also with Fortuny signature (2)
Condition Report: The gown is in very fresh condition - it appears to be little worn. The beads to fix to the correct waist size on the belt are still attached by a thread - waiting to be sewn in place. There us very, very slight loosening of pleats in the seat area but minimal. There are approx 5 barely visible pin-prick holes around the hem area (minor). This is probably the most perfect condition Fortuny I have ever seen.
