Description: Early iron saiga bowl formed of six plates dating from the Momoyama period, remodelled into a fireman's helmet at the end of the Edo period. Uninscribed. With ishime gold lacquer in the style of a 10-plate suji kabuto with fukurin and brass hoshi. Fine, engraved five-stage tehen kanamono and agemaki-no-kan. Fukigaeshi with shobu leather and gilt tachibana copper mon of the Obayashis. Red lacquer mabezashi with eyebrows. Interior lining existent, cords missing. Height 15.5 cm, width 31 cm.
