Description: of sumptuous ovoid hexa-lobed form surmounted by a tall neck and prounced rim folding out into six distinct lobes, covered all over in a rich crimson-red glaze enhanced by purple streaks extending vertically to the foot from each lobe, the rim and interior glazed a mottled lavender-blue, the brown-glazed base incised with six-character seal mark

Published: A Qianlong mark and period lobed flambé vase of this shape in Taiwan is included in the Illustrated Catalogue of Ch'ing Dynasty Porcelain in the National Palace Museum, vol.2, Tokyo, 1981, pl. 75; another in the Capital Museum, Beijing, is illustrated in Xiong Liao, Beauty of Ceramics. Gems of the Official Kilns, Taipei, 1993, pl. 148; and a third in John Ayers, The Baur Collection: Chinese Ceramics, vol.3, Genève, 1972, pl. A291. A similar vase from the Hall Family collection was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 2nd May 2000, lot 564; and another in our New York rooms, 19th September 2001, lot 156.
