A flintlock pistol by Harvey of noble property, dating: late 17th Century
provenance: Central Italy
Fine, round, 14 mm cal. barrel, chiselled with a bas-relieved mask at the base, round at the first part engraved with a noble coat of arms, then round with rib signed "GIO:BATTA:DAFOMP" among floral engravings; Roman style lock engraved with floral motifs and monogrammed "DP" at the inside; briarwood full stock with restorations, especially in the area of the counter-plate which is pierced and engraved; iron mounts, trigger guard and butt-plate decorated with bas-relieved masks, at the back the coat of arms with crowned "DAC". Wooden ramrod. Pistol of prestige, definitely worthing an appropriate restoration.
