Lot 1027: A GEORGE II BRASS TAPERSTICK, MID 18TH CENTURY |

Collections

by Sotheby's

October 26, 2016

London, United Kingdom

Live Auction
Sold
Looking for the realized and estimated price?

Description: together with a George III brass wax-jack (2)

Condition Report: The taperstick is attractive. There is wear and rubbing to raised detail from polishing, but this gives the piece a nice 'aged' feel. It is very slightly mis-shapen and there are typical old marks and scratches. Edges of base with very slight prangs, these do not detract and it is of steady stance. The wax-jack is generally in good order. The central stem is slightly loose.
"In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective, qualified opinion.
