A GEORGE II IRISH SILVER COFFEE-POT
MARK OF WILLIAM TOWNSEND, DUBLIN, CIRCA 1750
Pear-shaped and spreading reeded foot, with fluted and leaf spout, the body decorated overall with panels of Chinese figures in landscapes surrounded by foliage scrolls and flowers, engraved with coat-of-arms, the domed cover with a pineapple finial, with Victorian silver handle, marked near rim, on cover bezel and on handle, the foot further engraved with a scratchweight '33=13'

The arms are those of Ramsay quartering Bannerman and impaling Hilton probably for Captain John Ramsay (1843-1913) and his wife Florence (d.1906) only daughter of Richard Hilton of Preston House Faversham who he married in 1876.
