Description: 4¾-inch enamel dial signed Meuron & Compe., finely pierced and engraved hands, the similarly signed movement with flat-bottomed plates numbered 539, verge escapement with silk suspension, quarter striking on two bells, the cadrature mounted on the backplate, the case with foliate mounts and flanked by a standing figure of Venus and Cupid on billowing clouds, the breakfront plinth with scroll friezes, on gilt feet; together with a later parcel gilt wooden stand
Dial is dirty, very minor chip to right winding hole but otherwise good. Movement appears to be complete but is very dirty and not running, it will require complete service and overhaul. Case is very dirty, all gilt mounts extremely dirty and difficult to tell how well they will clean, two mounts detached but we have them, marble is very dirty and has many small edge chips, two rear feet lacking and replaced by a single modern turned wood support; the later wooden plinth is dirty and rubbed. With pendulum, winder and loose mount.
