late 19th century, manufacturer Waterlow & Sons, London, the hinged sloping front opening to reveal a fitted interior with shaped divisions for letters, pen tray, ink well slots and a top hinged compartment with engraved ivory plaques titled 'Answered', 'Unanswer'd', 'Accounts' and 'Receipts', over a single drawer with flush rebated handle opening to reveal a leather lined folding writing slope with lidded compartments to the rear, 14.5in (37cm) high x 14.25in (36cm) wide.
