Description: Helmet skull of gilt brass, comb attached by screws and richly decorated in relief, topped by a red horsehair crest, the bottom of the skull with continuous iron fitting and applied brass grenade on the obverse. Leather-backed brass chinscales on rosettes with applied star. Front visor liner of green leather, brown lining with leather flaps (handwritten inscription "1a Ca" on the inside). Heavy steel cuirass with ridged breast. Breast and back additionally plated with gilt brass, a hollow-stamped iron star attached to the front with screws, thereon the hollow-stamped brass emblem with imperial eagle (acceptance mark "O" on the shoulder of the cuirass breast plate), number "871" struck on the left of the breast plate, the back with "267" at the side. Smooth round brass rivets. Shoulder straps and belt intact (the right shoulder strap with acceptance mark "B" on the obverse). Cuirass without lining. Also two epaulettes of red cloth with black underlay, the upper side ribbed longitudinally, at the top gilt buttons with grenade symbol in relief, red cloth fringes, the metal clamps at the bottom marked "P.C & Cie". The wooden presentation stand is part of the lot. Lightly damaged in parts, signs of age. From the early reign of emperor Napoleon III. (1852-1870), before 1855. Very rare in this state of completeness and fine condition.
