Description: A Japanese Bronze Incense Burner of a Bearded Sage, Late Edo-Meiji period, the laughing figure is dressed in elaborately decorated robes and reclines against a large sack as he holds a scroll aloft, details are inlaid in copper, silver and gilding, he sits atop a rocky outcrop which itself rests upon a rounded rectangular stand with legs in the form of bats , 28cms by 23.5cms by 14cms. Provenance: Pen Moel near Chepstow
