Looking for the realized and estimated price?

Description: A Japanese Hirado blue and white sake flask (tokkuri), c.1750-1800, painted with a mountainous river landscape scene, 18.5cm

Condition Report: Has some light speckling to the glaze around the neck and on the shoulder, a slight orange patch on the rim made in firing and a slight firing imperfection to the inside of the foot which is not visible when viewed sideways on, where the glazed has pooled to the base it has turned a pale green colour in patches.

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid. All transactions are governed by Gorringes Conditions of Sale.

Notes: Compare a dish in the Brooklyn Museum, New York and a flask in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ref. AC1997.273.38, both painted in underglaze blue with a similar style of landscape scene.
