November 1, 2016
London, United KingdomLive Auction
Description: silk, pile
167cm the ledt hand side, 163cm the right hand side, 98cm the top, 101cm the bottom. Pile generally even 3/4mm. The flatwoven section to the lower end lacking part of the black lined decoration, as a consequence the flatwoven section without this detail has loosened, see illustration. Original fringes at upper and lower end with some losses, original sidecords. Later metal hoops added to the reverse of the top for hanging purposes. This is a smart, well executed rug with the interesting inclusion of the flatwoven end and also unusual small proportion. Would benefit from a professional clean.
