Description: A Large Pair of Fukugawa Porcelain Vases, each of cylindrical form resting on a short foot, the waisted neck with everted lip, the whole decorated in overglaze enamels and gilding with panels of samurai and other figures, views across edo bay, birds amid formalised clouds and stylised roundels, all on an elaborate ground of butterflies, peonies, pomegranates, diaper borders and a large lotus band around the foot, height 91.5cms, inscribed Fukugawa tsukuru with rebus; each with a large pierced and carved wood stand.(2) Provenance: Pen Moel near Chepstow
