Sprinkler on curved foot, above that the body with a pair of winged lions supporting the screwable neck formed by two elephants heads with intertwined trunks, surmounted by a floriated spout
Oval tray with lush floral repoussage in the areas of well, lip and rim, at the center a pair of ornamental birds

Rosewater sprinklers were used in India since the time of the Mughal empire (1526-1857). At the court of the Moguls it was considered extremely fashionable to sprinkle guests with rose water upon their arrival.
Sprinkler and tray are in good condition, consistent with age and bearing signs of wear. Occasionally dents respectively smallest bumps. In places traces of a former coloration. (nlu)
