Description: A late 19th / early 20th Century coin-in-the-slot barrel organ, contained within a walnut stained architectural case, stamped No. 1328, top super structure with pair of hinged side brackets inset bevelled foliate and star engraved mirrored panels, the front with kidney shaped bevelled mirror panel centred on a print of matador and serving maid within a tavern interior, flanked by further wheat and flower engraved bevelled panels, bearing rectangular tablet inscribed 'Pozzuoli and Amato, Rue Du Progrès, 126 Bruxeles & Rue Rogier 24', the stepped front with conforming bevelled panels, the base centred on a stylised lyre, flattened, fluted scrolling fore legs, the front with white metal coin slot inscribed '25CMES', the side with two crank wind handles, one inscribed 'Nicolas Rossi, Bruxelles' (one handle missing), further circular metal plates, one with adjustable stop handle, the other inscribe 0 - 9, iron frame with wooden sound board and 131cm wide drum, fitted steel pegs, 197cm high, 153cm wide, 66cm deep max.
