A Märklin First Series tin clockwork model of the battleship USS New York
Germany, early 20th century
With red and white hull, two black and white funnels, two masts with observation platforms, twelve gun battlements with fifteen cannons, two horns, and other highly detailed fittings, having finely decorated bowsprit and United States flag at stern.
L: 40 1/2, H: 25 in.
The piece largely intact, and together with a modern base. All cannons intact, with the rotating armory functional. Slight bending and warping to extremities.
The hull appears to have repainting, as well as restorations throughout. Chipping, scratches and craquelure to surface all over.
The four lifeboats together with the ship separately bagged.
Clockwork mechanism untested.
