Description: A Mason''s Ironstone fireplace surround in the chinoiserie taste

Circa 1830

The white ground decorated in a famille rose palette, the mantle decorated with a sculpted banner painted with Chinese motifs, the lion-headed capitals above molded column supports with fretwork modeled feet. (Please refer to online condition report.).

H: 46 1/2, W: 62 in.



PROVENANCE:

Patsy Lacy Griffith, Canon House, Forbes Trinchera Ranch, Colorado

Condition Report: This mantelpiece has substantial damage and is in need of restoration. The two uprights and the central mantel shelf are largely intact with peripheral cracks and losses, probably as a result of de-installation. The left and right corners of the mantel shelf are also damaged. Cannot be used without treatment by a professional ceramics conservationist.
