Description: A Meissen model of a lady of the 'Order of the Mops' (pug dogs) , circa 1900, typically modelled on a plinth base and holding a pug, incised 549 , blue crossed swords mark, 28.5cm high Note: In 1736 Pope Clement XII outlawed Freemasonry which meant that Saxon nobility, much enamoured with the subject invented their own society that would not offend His Holiness and called it the 'order of the Mops', a pug being a symbol of the Masons.
