A pair of 18 bore silver mounted flintlock holster pistols by Henry Hadley, London, hallmarked for 1757, maker's mark Jeremiah Ashley, the 22.5cm brass barrels signed 'H.Hadley, London' to the top, with golf lined touch holes, Hadley's poincon stamp to the locks, fine cast silver mounts including vacant escutcheons, grotesque masks to the butt caps, silver tipped ramrods, barrels stamped 'T.H.' with proof marks, 38cm (15in) overall
Note: Two pairs of Hadley's pistols are in the Royal Collection at Windsor. Another pair was made for the Duke of Marlborough now in the Royal Armouries, Leeds.
