From Nikolay Khardjiev (1903-1996), a famous literary and art critic and historian, authority in Russian Avant-garde art and literature, with his inscriptions on verso of the mat.
Gildebrandt-Arbenina was a Russian Soviet Avant-garde graphic artist. She was born in St. Petersburg in 1897. She did not receive any specialized art education. She was active in Leningrad (in Urals 1941-48). She began exhibiting mid-1920s. She belonged to the group "Thirteen". Her important shows include "Artists of the Russian Federation Over Fifteen Years", Moscow, 1933. She also trained and worked as an actress in late 1910s-early 1920s.
