Description: A photo advertising lady. In the tradition of women bedecked with products to advertise a commercial venture, this woman has cabinet cards attached to her dress and in her hat. She holds a lens and a board in the form of a painter’s palette for W. Burchell, Photo Artist. She’s identified as Mae Preston, and this is dated 1892. Many of these advertising ladies from small towns are members of the community who would be recognized by those acquiring the photograph. They are often identified. Cabinet card by W. W. Burchell, Mazomanie, Wisconsin.
