A rare cased pair of pin-fire Beringer pistols and a eight-shot Hermand pepperbox revolver
dating: third quarter of the 19th Century
Pistols with octagonal, rifled, 12 mm cal, damask barrels, stamped and signed "PAR BREVET D'INV.ON BERINGER A PARIS", with foresight; long tangs finely engraved with floral and geometrical motifs, with rear-sight; backward spring locks marked "INV.ON BERINGER" the one and "BREVETE A PARIS" the other and engraved with vine shoots and frame; stock in two parts of fine briarwood, with checkered grip, butt-plates sculpted with a crown of oak branches; steel mounts engraved en suite, under the trigger guard a spring lever to push the barrel down, set trigger.
Percussion-lock pepperbox with eight, round, 10 mm cal. damask barrels, with a stamp of Liège test bench at the base; round, steel frame finely engraved with floral motifs and signed "J.J. HERMAN.D BREVETE", ebony butt, steel trigger guard decorated en suite, German silver butt-plate with primer case and cover of decorated iron.
Kept together in a wooden case lined with brown velvet and provided with all tools. Complete with key.
