Description: A rare sardinian flintlock pistol, dating: 18th Century provenance: Sardinia Smooth, round, 13 mm cal. barrel, with rib, decorated at the base with floral chiselling and a frame surrounding a relieved, silver mask, with remains of silver and gold inlays at the tang engraved with leaves; miquelet lock with small engraving depicting foliage; full stock of dark wood (defects), with remains of engravings depicting rows of circles and floral motifs at the neck; richly chiselled, brass mounts, the counter-plate pierced with grotesque faces and two dragon heads among racemes and spirals, the trigger guard with more racemes, faces and a large mask at the centre; at the neck and under the barrel are two chiselled and pierced plaques depicting the same coat of arms with a double-headed bird holding a torch in both claws, surmounted by a crown and a grotesque face, the coat of arms place under the barrel made of brass, the one at the neck made of silver. Brass-tipped ramrod of light wood. dimensions: length 39 cm.
