Description: A Regency mahogany metamorphic library armchair, circa 1815, following a design by Morgan & Sanders, with bar back and scrolled arms above sabre legs, with brass catch securing hinged action becoming a flight of four library steps, as a chair 91cm high, 55cm wide, 58cm deep, as steps 73cm high, 55cm wide, 105cm deep The design of this lot is closely related to that Morgan and Sanders, first published in Ackermann's Repository of Arts , July 1811 (P. Agius, Ackermann's Regency Furniture & Interiors , Marlborough, 1984, p. 60, pl. 29). A chair of similar design and attributed to Morgan and Sanders is in the collection of Trinity College, Oxford (R. Edwards and P. Macquoid, The Dictionary of English Furniture , London, rev. ed., 1954, vol. II, p. 291, fig. 15). For a closely related metamorphic library armchair see Susan E.
