Description: A ruby, diamond and emerald tiara/necklace by Scortecci, circa 1961, the tiara of pierced scrolled floral design, set with eight cut diamonds with mixed cut rubies and emeralds, 17.5cm long, with a detachable tiara frame, to similarly set floral and foliate link back chain forming a necklace, approximately 40 cm long, the back chain composed of five removable sections to form a bracelet of varying lengths, 16cm and 21cm long, the bracelet/ back chain with two emerald and diamond cluster box snap clasps each signed Scortecci and stamped '750', with two additional ruby and diamond leaf links, with a blue velvet bound Scortecci box. This tiara and necklace was made in 1961 to a special commission from the current vendor to Scortecci in Rome. It was first worn at the state banquet in honour of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh during their state visit to Italy from 2nd May - 5th May 1961. The banquet was hosted by the Italian president Giovanni Gronchi at the Quirinale Palace in Rome, and was attended by 3000 members of Italian high society.
