A silver mounted pair of flintlock pistols by Niquet le Jeune, dating: second quarter of the 18th Century
Smooth, two-stage, 16.5 mm cal. barrels, octagonal at the first part with Niquet's marks among stars, followed by rings, and the second part, round, with swallow-tailed silver foresight; engraved tangs; round plate flintlocks, signed "Niquet le Jeune A Liege"; full stocks slightly sculpted with floral pattern, with beautiful silver mounts decorated with bas-relieved trophies, busts and floral motifs, at the back a shield with trophies and crowned mask; wooden ramrods. For Claude Niquet see "Der Neue Stockel" Vol. II. page 873 stamps 823 and 824 (on the barel).
