Six character mark Guangxu and period
The oval vessel with stylised archaic motifs, on four feet in the form of stylised taotie masks. The curved, domed lid with a dragon and lingzhi on one side, the other side with the inscription fang yuan da de gui.

Acquired by the father of the present owner in Hong Kong in the nineteen fifties
After an example of a 'gui' (ritual vessel) from the Dade period (1297-1307) of the Yuan dynasty.
An identical example was sold at Christie's New York, 20-21 March 2014, lot 2202.
