Description: A Victorian electro-plated four light three branch candelabrum, with a detachable foliate gothic cross finial, foliate sconces, shell and flower embossed fluted capitals with foliate drip pans, leafy scroll branches, the reeded stem with foliage at the base, on a shaped circular base with C-scrolls, flowers and foliage, engraved with a crest and a motto 'Nomen Extendere Factis', 68.5cm (27in) high The crest and motto of NEELD of Grittleton, Wiltshire. John Neeld (1805-1878), who was an MP for Wiltshire constituencies between 1835 and 1868, was created a baronet in 1859. The baronetcy became extinct with the death of his younger son in 1944.
