Description: Attributed to Gyokusen Tomochika, Osaka/Tokyo, Early 19th century. Carrying a large basket suspended from an Axe that he carries over his shoulder. A gourd is suspended at his waist and he wears a cape of mugwort leaves. Signed, in a rectangular reserve that winds its way around the lower rear of his cape, Gyokusen. 1 7/8in (4.9cm). Provenance: Purchased from R. Koscherak, 1951.
