Four color lithographs, (the first signed and noted "5/5 epreuve d''artiste") with Italian text by Michel Tapiè printed in red on folded folio sheets measuring 492x710 mm; 19/8x28 inches. Contents loose as issued in printed wrappers; glassine wrapper; original black paper slipcase (worn); contents only very slightly toned. Rome: Galleria La Salita, (1957)

Notes: number one of only five copies signed by accardi. additionally inscribed and signed by her to collector walter s. goodhue in pen, on title-page. The total edition was 31. A scarce work by the the important female Italian Abstractionist painter and printmaker with text by French art critic Tapiè. Accardi was among the founders of the influential post-WWII group Forma 1 whose goal was to reconcile Marxist politics with abstract art. In the 1950s, she took a break from painting and turned to printmaking, exploring calligraphic abstractions and the relationship between figure and ground through the heavy use of white on black composition which this portfolio celebrates.
