(British, b. 1961) UNTITLED unique gelatin silver print photogram mounted on linen over board image: 1271/2 x 55 in. (323.9 x 139.7 cm) board: 1281/2 x 56 in. (326.4 x 142.2 cm) 1996 PROVENANCE Robert Miller Gallery, NEW YORK Private Collection, NEW YORK EXHIBITED NEW YORK, Robert Miller Gallery, ABOUT PAINTING (PART II), October 7- November 1, 1997 In 1996, Adam Fuss was chosen as a resident artist at the Shaker Community of Sabbathday Lake, Maine. During his residency, Fuss created this large-format gelatin silver print photogram of a wild asparagus plant that he found in the overgrown orchards. This is the only photogram of this object known to be extant at the time of this writing. This important and extremely rare work refers, with its strength and quality of line, to Fuss' earlier series of work involving rabbit entrails (please refer to 64).
