Description: Boats on the pier, oil on canvas, 66 cm x 79 cm, lower right A. de Haer signed; De Haer was one of the most important representatives of Rhenish expressionism and Kubo-Futurism. The climax of his Cubist-Expressionist works lies between 1919 and 1924. There follows a transition phase between Expressionism and Impressionism, until he moves into the inner emigration as a transgressed artist in the time of National Socialism.
