Description: Afghanistan 1878-80, 890 Private A Spurgeon 78th Foot, medal is a no clasp example. Named in the correct style. Medal has some contact marks and edge bruising. Arthur Spurgeon was born in Norwich. He was a Tailor by occupation, he enlisted at Great Yarmouth on 13 February 1877. Posted to the 78th Highlanders in October 1878, he served with them in IndIa and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Afghanistan Medal without clasp and India General Service Medal with clasp, ‘Hazara 1888’. He was discharged on 14 September 1895.
