Description: Late 19th-early 20th century AD. A Sudanese Nuer iron fishing spear with rectangular-section tapering blade, barbed shoulders, closed tapering socket; the blade with running zigzag to each broad face, raised barbs to long edges. Cf. similar example collected by W. Sherlock Lennon near Lake No on 17th February 1923, and donated to the Pitt Rivers Museum by his sisters Kathleen Constance Averina Knowles and Mrs Cameron in August 1946, accession number 1946.8.90 . 250 grams, 40.5cm (16"). Property of a Nottinghamshire, UK, collector; by inheritance. [No Reserve]
