In this ad Flash Gordon rockets to Arboria to promote Union Carbide plastics and "finds King Barin's son has been abducted by renegade Hawkmen." ++ Colorist artwork for Flash Gordon "Treachery in the Land of the Hawkmen" ad with hand-drawn color added to printed page, mostly in reds and browns, no CMYK codes visible. Some white correction fluid in center, page brittle, covered by matte, matte mounted to board, 9 x 12 to outside edges.++ 3 identical production proofs, single page, blank verso. Al Williamson signature in center right panel, copyright King Features Syndicate, Inc., 1970, lower edge. All good condition with light spotting visible esp. to left edge. ++ 4 acetate overlays for the ad: 1 magenta, 1 cyan, 1 yellow and 1 black. All labeled "M.O" and "Union Carbide - Flash Gordon" at top. Minor tape residue, minor creasing, otherwise very good. Provenance: The material was the property of the Union Carbide corporate advertising executive who worked directly with Williamson and who likely created this particular campaign.
