Paysage … l'‚cluse signed 'du Bois-Pillet' (lower right) oil on canvas laid down on panel 93/4 x 12 in. (24.8 x 30.5 cm.) Painted in 1886 NOTES Albert Dubois-Pillet began to paint in the 1870s and, after being rejected by the Salon in the early 1880s, he helped form the artists' group, Les Ind‚pendents in 1884, to provide an alternative venue for the exhibition of his work. Felix F‚ne¢n reviewed one of these exhibitons: "....M. SALESROOM NOTICE The medium for this work is oil on canvas and not laid down on panel as stated in the catalogue.
