The painting is overall in good condition, slightly discolored, consistent with the age and with rubbed spots to the edges due to the frame. The frame shows usual signs of age and wear as well as a restored spot with loss of material at the right edge.
Albert Gustav Schwartz (b. 1833)
The painter Albert Gustav Schwartz, 1933 born in Berlin, studied at the academy of his hometown under M. Schmidt and V. Werner. He continued his education in Rome and settled down in England later. Since the mid-19th century the artist exhibited his works in art exhibitions. The oeuvre of the painter shows cityscapes, street scenes, marine paintings as well as landscapes. (msc)
