Aldo Tura (1909-1963)
In the 1930s, the Italian Aldo Tura began designing and manufacturing furniture. Hereby he followed the Art Déco movement, which preferred designs with geometric and straight lines. Tura’s furniture, the ‘maestro della pergamena’, is of flowing grace and highest craftsmanship and only available in limited copies. Thanks to his skills as a craftsman and artist, Tura has been able to experiment with a variety of unusual materials, including eggshell, parchment, leather, and wood. Tura has always tried to work with traditional techniques. His ambition was to create aesthetic pieces of furniture that should radiate naturalness and freedom. (cko)
