Alex Olson (American, b. 1978)
Alex Olson lives and works in Los Angeles, CA where she attended the California Institute of the Arts after studying at Harvard University. Her paintings, often rendered with graphic and gestural qualities, have been shown in solo shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and London and are found in the LACMA, Hammer Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and Walker Art Center collections. Olson uses a variety of tools to “mark” canvases, resulting in high contrast lines, ribbons, and shapes. The deliberate handling of the marks, often with raised, burr-like edges from the paint distribution, creates a textured surface.
In overall very good condition.
