Description: Artist: NEIL LEIFER (1942-) Size: 15 7/8 x 20 in./40.5 x 57 cm Ali hand-signed his name in gold ink upon this, one of the most iconic photos in the history of sports: Neil Liefer's magnificent shot of Cassius Clay, taunting the fallen Sonny Liston, two minutes into the first round of their 2nd fight, on May 25, 1965. Clay renamed himself Ali after winning the WBA Heavyweight Championship by KO or a phantom punch. Liefer admits to being incredibly lucky; he had one chance, since the Ektachrome color film he was using required flashbulbs that took time to reset. (ali)
