Description: AN 18-BORE FLINTLOCK HORSE-PISTOL FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1750 using a possible Persian 15in. barrel, carved, slightly raised sighting rib, engraved broad band and crescent, together with a square makers mark of a standing four legged animal at breech, relief carved flared top-tang, engraved lock with carved border (at fault), bridled frizzen, walnut full-stock with floral carving around the furniture (worn), heavy iron swollen pommel with long side-spurs, fore-end with false ramrod (losses and splits, mainly to tip and along ramrod channel


Other Notes: This pistol and the one in the following lot were acquired by a Captain Samuel Palmer, Captain-In-Charge of the Turkish Coast Guard in the Black Sea (European side) circa 1880-1902
