Description: wool, pile

Condition Report: 445cm from the left, 446cm from the right hand side, 453cm from the top, 452cm from the bottom. Pile dense 3mm overall with some oxidisation especially in lower right corner of main field. Also with visible repairs within brown ground and green palmette, as visble within photograph. There are small cobbled repairs in the top left corner and main field visible as pale green stitches. Some vertical warp threads visible in both these areas and in other localised areas for example centre lower edge of main field. Small repaired vertical split, centre top border approx. 10cm. There is a small horizontal split approximately 5cm long in centre of lower left quadrant, and another small 1cm hole. These are as a result of weak foundation. Some scattered small repairs in other areas including to border, towards centre right hand side. Overcast cotton fringing at both ends. With partially original sidecords with some losses. The colour is very unusual for an Agra, it is possible that at some stage either the carpet has been washed and loose green dye has resulted in overall green/grey tinge or that it has been chemically washed and the colours have been changed through the process. However the present colours do go to the roots of the knots and whilst this is in not a usual colour scheme for an Agra carpet there is a possibility that these are the colours in which it was woven in as there is no evidence of colour transfer to the fringes and side cords. First hand inspection is advised.
