Description: An early Victorian silver christening mug, the body of campana form, with acanthus capped scrolling handle, the body embossed with alternating foliate motif and acanthus leaf frieze, leading to a pedestal foot conforming in design, personal inscription and initial engraving to the body. Hallmarked Edward, Edward Junior, John & William Barnard London 1838. Height measuring 4 inches (10 cm), weight 4.4 ozt (139 grams).

Condition Report: The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Split to the foot. Knock to the base and therefore wobbles on a flat surface. Some heavier scratches. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible. Personal inscription reads 'Mary Katherine Ayres 9th December 1911'.
