Description: Wood, slightly restored gold paint, black hair, the headdress missing. Buddha in lotus position, his right hand resting on his right knee, his left hand open on his lap, the stepped base decorated with a red stripe. On the back of the base a rectangular recess, the underside strongly weather-worn. Height 52 cm. The sitting Buddha touches the earth with his fingertips to invocate her as a witness to the truth of his words. This gesture is a reminder of Buddha's victory over Mara, the god of carnal desire.
