Description: By Masayuki Isshinsai, Osaka, Mid 19th century. The flat side has a geisha and her attendant, both with walking sticks, in relief carving. The reverse shows a porter carrying two boxes on a pole. Signed on the underside with signature arranged in two columns, Isshinsai Masayuki, and kakihan. The signature is reinforced with black ink and the kakihan in red. 3 1/8in (8cm). Provenance: Both the netsuke and the signature are illustrated in Lazarnick on page 747.
