Description: By Masatsugu, Osaka, Early/mid 19th century. Seated with his legs folded in front and his arms tucked inside the folded legs, eyes double-inlaid in dark horn or amber. Dense, well-carved hair-work that has been stained black covers the body. The himotoshi use natural openings. Signed on the underside in a polished oval reserve, Masatsugu. An early work by Kaigyokusai who stopped using the go of Masatsugu in 1835. 1 1/4in (3.3cm).
