Description: By Mitsushige, Osaka, Mid 19th century. Mid 19th century Standing with his mouth fully open in a monumental yawn revealing four irregularly spaced teeth. His eyes are inlaid with dark horn and his billowing robe is closed in front and he hold a hossu that protrudes from the front and hangs from his earring to his knees, the handle of which is inlaid in tsuishu lacquer. Signed on the underside without reserve, Mitsushige. 1 7/8in (4.7cm). Provenance: Sotheby's, New York, September 21, 1983.
