Description: 238-244 AD. Cilicia mint. Obv: AYT KAI M ANTWNIOC GORDIANOC CEB legend with pi to right field with radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: TARCOY MHTROPOLEWC legend with Herakles standing front, looking left, holding apples, leaning on club, lionskin draped over his left arm, the serpent-entwined tree of the Hesperides to left; traces of A M K G B in exergue. Ziegler Kilikien 771 (same dies); SNG Cop 383; SNG France II 1667; Paris 1410-1412; BMC 262-263. See Wildwinds.com (this coin). 24.74 grams. . The letters to the exergue refer to the city's title and the second year of Gordian's reign, which were very likely removed from the die for striking the numerous later issues.

Condition Report: Good very fine; some smoothing to fields.
