Description: 2nd-8th century AD. A mixed bronze group comprising: a Roman plate brooch of an eagle with textured wing and open beak; two Anglo-Saxon or Frankish ansate brooches with ribs below the bow; a Frankish caterpillar brooch; a belt mount with ribbed face, two studs to the reverse. Cf. Hattatt, R. Brooches of Antiquity, Oxford, 1987, item 1161, 1424; Hattatt, R. Ancient Brooches and Other Artefacts, Oxford, 1989, item 1606. 23 grams total, 27-45mm (1 - 1 3/4").
