Description: 9th century AD. A silver tongue-shaped strap end with split upper end, beast-head finial with trefoil to the snout and D-shaped ears, panel with rearing zoomorph enmeshed in a dense block of interlaced tendrils with Maltese cross above the back; Thomas's Class A, type A2. Cf. Thomas, G. Late Anglo-Saxon and Viking Age Strap-Ends 750-1100: Part 1, Finds Research Group datasheet 32, Sleaford, 2007, fig.1(4"). 6.77 grams, 43mm (1 3/4").
